A Pakistani-American man from Connecticut, Shahzad Faisal, has been arrested in connection Saturday night's attempted car bombing in New York City's Times Square. He was arrested at JFK airport where he was attempting to flee the country, CNN.com reports. He was heading to Dubai, officials say.
ABC News reports that Faisal, 30, lives in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and that 3 other people he's connected to are also subjects of the investigation. Officials tracked Faisal down with help from records of his purchase of the Nissan Pathfinder involved in the attempted bombing.
HuffingtonPost.com reports that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder issued a statement that said, in part, "This investigation is ongoing, it is multi-faceted, and it is aggressive. As we move forward, we will focus on not just holding those responsible for it accountable, but also on obtaining any intelligence about terrorist organizations overseas."
As a New York resident, I can assure you that we don't like to see our city attacked, but it's business as usual here. We know about the attempted attack and in some ways, we've chalked it up to "Only in New York!" which happens every day in this town. We are lucky no one was hurt and that Faisal didn't know how to make a bomb!
