Ge Coffee Maker Recall
General Electric Co. (GE) is down after Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) recalled about 900,000 GE brand coffee makers.
Wal-Mart pulled the 12-cup GE coffee makers from the shelves after reports that the appliances over-heated and caused fires in the house. GE started importing the Chinese-made coffee makers in 1984, and its logo is printed on the base, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
At least 83 complaints have been made to Wal-Mart, and the retailer said consumers can return them to any of its stores for a full refund.
Shares in the Fairfield, Conn.-based GE opened at $16.81, and have traded between $10.50 and $19.70 over the past 12 months.
Wal-Mart is down 1.15%.
